I kinda like it though, form over function.

Its the only way to reduce the glass height and retain headroom.

Im still not a fan of the high belt line. I like being able to put my left elbow on the top of the door panel especially on long drives. LOL, and especially in my old e28 :] miss that goofy box

I think it is a result of crash requirements - both side impact and rollover roof strength.

Late 80s / Early 90s Hondas had a lovely low sill line for the windows. It made the windows huge, and the cars had wonderful visibility as a result.

I'd still take a 1990/1991 Prelude over a lot of the current sports coupes out there - they still look good. The current "short window" thing makes the cars look far too heavy for my tastes.

You do realize that the belt lines are so high because it's easier to make the car safer that way right? And that many, if not most, people find that lower belt lines look good?

It's function over form, when you exclude "being able to see out of it" from "function".

Being able to see out of it is what I was referring to.

LOL, looking through a pipe.

Kinja'd!!!

That's what I think of whenever I see cars like the Camaro. There's 100 sqin of glass, but only a teeny tiny porthole you can see through. It's all pillar!

As a person studying transportation design, there is literally no time I can think of someone even mentioning that belt lines are too high now, or lower ones are better. Student, faculty or professional.

So I'd get to used it if I was you.

True. Thats where the larger wheels make the large side appear smaller. I believe the high beltlines are for safety but I may be wrong.

I think it looks cool a lot of the time. But here, have a Triumph TR3, it will make you feel better.
